Chapter 13

Simone

My center was opening today at two o’clock on the dot and I was so excited. Having my own business up and running was such a blessing. There were times when I would get a little sad and down because I wished that my mother was here to witness these moments but I always had to remind myself that she was here with me in the spirit.

I was sitting in my office playing with my niece, Angel. Since I was so busy with Sindrel and what Smooth had going on I hadn’t been spending that much time with anyone so I stopped by this morning and picked her up.

She was everything then some. She was so beautiful and ass chunky as hell. She didn’t cry and that made me want to just keep her forever. I was walking around my office, feeding and singing to her and she was just smiling up a storm.

Mesha and I was the only two at the building since it was still early. I know that the press was coming out later because this was the biggest center downtown for women. I had food and drinks for days and I couldn’t wait to see how everyone felt about the place.

“Simone, you have a visitor downstairs,” Mesha called over the intercom.

“Let’s go see who that is, fat mama.” I placed her bottle on the desk and walked downstairs.

When I saw who it was I wanted to turn around and walk away but I decided against it. It was Calvin with his little girl, Carla.

“Hey, Calvin. What’s up?”

“What’s up, Simone? I just came to look around and tell you I’m proud of all your accomplishments. This is nice.”

“Thank you, Calvin. I really appreciate it.”

“I absolutely love this place. My goodness!”

I turned around and I saw that it was Molly. I didn’t know what type of game they were playing but today wasn’t the day. I guess my facial expression spoke volumes because she started to explain herself.

“I came here on no disrespect, Simone. I feel like we’re above that now. Calvin and I are together now and since he and Smooth are working on the same team, maybe we should put all our differences aside.”

This shit was making no sense to me. Okay her and Calvin was together woohoo… I didn’t give a flying fuck but me and this bitch didn’t have to be friends and she damn sure didn’t have to come here to my place of business and make the ‘Calvin and me are together speech’.

“Okay, that’s good to know that you and Calvin are together. Congrats but we don’t have to be friends. I mean no disrespect, Molly. I appreciate you for being the bigger person. I have no problems with you though. When I left Calvin, I left you with him. I left the past in the past.”

“I can respect it but we wanted to come through because my girlfriend told me the place was nice.”

I gave her a fake smile. “I do appreciate it but the opening is at two.
